I really like what this article had to say. I especially like the part about how I need to make my art completely before I even start to judge it or have others judge it. This, I admit, is very difficult in a class room setting. Another part I like was the part that explained how your work will not be seen as normal and neither will you. If it is different or seen as strange that means no one has though of it. Although it might not be accepted at the time it will one day be recognized. It was interesting that normal things don't stand out.

thanks for your response Austin! and...YES...i totally agree about this being even harder to do in a classroom. that is part of why i always think you guys are really gutsy--just making art in a group can be really challenging. The flip side of this, of course, is that working with others can also be incredibly encouraging--and make us realize our struggles are far from isolated.
