Maurizio Cattelan is an artist from Italy. He is not your typical artist. He did not go to art school but instead had a host of many other jobs such as working in mortuary. This inspired much of his art. A lot of his work consist of sculptures of people not in a typical setting. For example there is a sculpture of a coat hanging on a coat hanger but the odd thing is there is a man in the coat. Another piece has two cops standing but they are upside down. Generally things not in their right places.
Maurizio is not in a particular movement but many people say him and another artist named Ali Subotnick were involved making satirical art. Some of which has a clear message against certain things about society and daily life.

This is a old farm in Leelanau Michigan that was abandoned when the National Park Service forced farmers from the area. This photo captured by myself on a crisp morning in September.
